Keeper Andreas Luthe celebrates sensational victory in relegation thriller between VfL Bochum and Fortuna Düsseldorf

Yesterday, Reusch goalkeeper Andreas Luthe bid farewell to professional football following a dramatic relegation victory.

The VfL Bochum keeper and his team won 6-5 on penalties against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
After trailing 3-0 in the first round, hardly anyone believed that the club would be able to avoid relegation, but the club turned the tide! Luthe became the great hero of the evening with a brilliantly saved penalty.

Afterwards, Luthe declared: ‘There's no better time to say thank you.’



Luthe began his career in the youth ranks of VfL Bochum and later played for German clubs FC Augsburg, Union Berlin and 1. FC Kaiserslautern before returning to his home club in January 2024.
