As a company deeply rooted in the fascinating mountain region of the Dolomites, we believe it is important to strive to reduce our company’s impact on the environment and to establish a more sustainable business model in the entire supply-, manufacturing- and distribution chain of Reusch gloves.

Therefore, we developed the Taking Care Program, our own approach to improve the firm’s environmental compatibility, which is inspired on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nation’s Agenda 2030. Such goals include respect for human rights, fair working conditions, protection of the environment, and prohibition of corruption.

Producing gloves for winter sports and for goalkeepers, not every measure can be implemented for both categories the same way as the material used and the manufacturing processes are very different. And even if till now we could generally reach better and faster results with our ski glove collection, we keep on learning and trying step by step to reduce the impact of every product on the environment.

Here we share some of our achievements and future goals, with the intention of growing this list year after year.

What we have implemented so far
  • Use of FSC-Certified paper for packaging items and catalogues.
  • Focus on 100% recycled and recyclable materials for the polybags in which products are packed.
  • Elements of soccer packaging items have been switched to EVA quality.

  • PFCs have been progressively removed from the backhand shell materials of our ski gloves.
  • Recycled insulations from certified sources have been widely introduced in our winter glove collection.
  • Recycled linings and recycled membranes from certified sources are being introduced on a significant number of models of our winter glove range.
  • Over 100.000 pairs of gloves have been produced using recycled polyester components in their backhand shell materials.
  • We introduced technical apparel for goalkeepers made with recycled polyester.

  • Rethinking demand planning, adapting timings, anticipating decisions, and increasing risks to reach on-time deliveries focusing on sea-freight shipments.
  • Internal reorganisation to optimize shipments from our factories (consolidation of shipments).

  • We established sourcing guidelines with our factories, including social, ethical, and environmental requirements.
  • Despite the seasonal aspect of our products, we work hand in hand with our suppliers and feed production lines all year long to enable stable working conditions.

  • Since 2019 Reusch has been voluntarily calculating the CO2 emissions linked to our activities and finance certified climate projects.

 Our next challenges
  • Intensifying the use and the proportion of recycled ingredients in our products.
  • Maximize product durability to increase their lifetime and reduce waste.
  • Continue optimizing and reducing packaging materials.
  • Improve the energy efficiency of our warehouse.
  • Continue optimizing transport.
  • Keep monitoring Reusch’s CO2 footprint.
  • Further involve factories, nurture the relationships with our suppliers to continue improving and reducing the impact of our products.

We have calculated our company's emissions and neutralized them with independent climate projects.
