At the start of the season in the giant slalom the women as well as the men in Reusch gloves achieved excellent results. 15.000 thousand viewers saw Kathrin Zettel dominating the women`s competition, so that she was nearly one second faster than the runner-up. She assured the first Austrian victory in Sölden since 2002 at the Austrian national holiday. But also the Reusch-carriers Andrea Fischbacher (rank 3) and the newcomer Lara Gut (rank 5) showed a great performance. More clearly are the results of the men, because the first 10 ranks were allocated by Reusch drivers in this competition. Especially Daniel Albrecht and Didier Cuche fought head-to-head. Finally won Albrecht with an advantage about 14 hundredth and became the first Swiss champion in Sölden since 1996. Mentionable is also the TOP-performance of the young Carlo Janka, who drove the second-best time in the second run. So he enhanced himself for 11 positions to rank 9, which is his best result in a giant slalom until now. We congratulate our stars on their great performances and wish them also for the next races a lot of success. |
